Highland View
South Gulf County is rich in local history, much of it anchored to the commercial fishing industry. Highland View is Gulf County's "fishing village", home to many of the area's commercial fishermen, and the area's commercial fishing fleet.
This small community is bordered on the south by the Gulf County Canal, which connects the deep waters of St. Joe Bay to the Intracoastal Waterway. This 7 mile canal offers easy access to the bay and the Gulf of Mexico for the fleet of commercial fishing boats that dock here.
Highland View is bordered on the west by U.S. Highway 98. At this point, this major U.S. highway is only steps from the shoreline of St. Joe Bay.
In 2001 Arvida, the community development arm of The St. Joe Company, developed
Windmark Beach just north of the Highland View area. Partly as a result of this new development, property values in Highland View are on the rise.
